?世说新语》主要记述了士人的生活和思想及统治阶级的情况，反映了魏晋时期文人的思想言行和上层社会的生活面貌。这本书是好多典故的源头，比如我们课本所学的“未若柳絮因风起”。脍炙人口的佳言名句，为全书增添了无限光彩。
其中，我觉得最富有哲理性的是记录晋人谈话的“言语”。书中讲述了这样一个故事。口吃的邓艾，自称时便经常重复说“艾，艾……”经常这样，难免被人取笑。有一次连晋文帝也和他开玩笑：“你总是说……艾，……艾，究竟是几个艾啊?”邓艾没生气，也没尴尬，镇定地回答说：“凤兮凤兮，本来只是一只凤。”借孔子之言说明自己虽然常常连说“艾，艾”，但只有一个“艾”罢了。
